Golden Mile and the long sandy beach
It's also a large amusement park with dozens of swimming pools, water slides and bubbling fountains. A fair with carousels, souvenir stands, exotic restaurants, night clubs and numerous hotels right on the long sandy beach.
A characteristic of the Golden Mile in Durban are the Zulu rickshaws. These pretty cars and drivers are brightly decorated. For small pocket money, you can be transported to the beach promenade.
All surfing fans get their money's worth here. Long. powerful and even waves are very popular with national and international surfers. Two piers extend far out and there you can watch international competitions.Guarded beaches because of the Great White Shark
The popular beaches in particular are guarded by lifeguards during the day because of possible shark attacks. Please note the red and yellow flags show the guarded region. The beaches are also provided with shark nets, which gives many swimmers additional security.
The beach sections are divided into the following sections - from north to south: Dairy Beach, Dunes, North Beach, Addington Beach and South Beach. Addington Beach is particularly suitable for beginners in surfing.
More beaches to the north
In the north there are still beautiful beaches and golf courses. They are called Country Club Beach (golf course), Laguna Beach and Tekwini Beach. At the mouth of the Umgeni River is the Blue Lagoon Beach, this is where all fishing enthusiasts meet,
