Also simply and affectionately called "Joburg". It is not only the largest city in the country, but of the entire African continent.
The city is the premier address for international tourism and the gateway to South Africa. There are few international airlines that do not fly to the airport, which is located in the south east of the city. Many trips end in Cape Town, where many tourists visit countless sights such as Table Mountain, the wine lands or the Cape of Good Hope.
It is also the centre of the Gauteng Province. This is a densely populated area with numerous satellite cities. The capital Pretoria is growing closer and closer to Joburg. About 8.5 million people live in this large area. Many refugees from Zimbabwe arrived here. There are no exact figures, but it is estimated that around 3 million refugees from Zimbabwe have immigrated to South Africa.
Many tourists planning a tour to South Africa head for Johannesburg first. Most tours and safaris within the country start here, but round trips to Mozambique, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and even Namibia are not uncommon. Tours to Victoria Falls are particularly popular.
The old city offers a wide range of cultural offerings that include European and African components. With a population of 4.43 million, the old gold rush town is still the engine of the nation today. Almost a fifth of the gross national product is generated in this region.
The economic backbone is still gold today, even if the natural resources have become less. When driving through the airport you can see many spoil heaps. Rich mining companies and the large corporations and banking companies have their headquarters in Joburg. Due to the many mines in the area, the supply industry has developed very well.

Was founded in 1887 and is the centre of the capital market for all of southern Africa. Almost all major South African companies are represented here.
Climate
Most months of the year the climate is dry and sunny. From October to April it often rains heavily in the afternoon. Lightning with thunderstorms is not uncommon. The mountain climate is very pleasant. Asthma sufferers in particular get off the plane and no longer have any problems!
National parks nearby
In about 2.5 hours by car you can reach the Pilanesberg National Park with Sun City. The Kruger National Park is about 4.5 hours away by car. You can go on Big Five safaris in both game reserves. We offer wonderful helicopter flights on the Panorama Route and to various golf courses.
