Fish Hoek – Media- Cape Town Helicopter Rides in South Africa
Between two mountains and two oceans along the False Bay coast lays the village of Fish Hoek, which was established in 1918. The famous Jaeger Walk, also known as the "Cat Walk" was named after the first mayor of Fish Hoek and offers a lovely walk along the False Bay Ocean. Stunning guest houses are situated along this section of the coast, many of them boosting a magnificent sea view and all are located within walking distance of the beach. White sandy swimming beaches are a delight for every holiday maker.
Lord Charles Somerset succeeded in putting a clause into the Title Deed of Grant given to Andries Bruyns, that there should be no wine house on this land. Up to day no liquor store is established here. On the main road you will find many restaurants, coffee shops, and shops that sell almost anything.
The white sandy beach and the beach centre is still the highlight in Fish Hoek. Activities such as swimming, surfing, sailing and snorkelling are all waiting for the active visitor.
Change rooms, showers and a children's playground ensure for the well being of any visitor, while good restaurant always got something to offer for every taste.
Not only is the Surf Life Savers Club responsible for the safety of people, they also offer canoeing and surfing.
Hobie Cat sailing is here famous, even Hobie World Champions are held here.
If you got a bit of time available you should not miss out to visit the Valley Museum, which displays old photographs of the area and local stone age implements, as well as housing displays on the whales, dolphins and White Sharks.
You should also climb up to Peers Cave, where you have a fantastic view across the Peninsula over both oceans. Victor Peers has discovered 9 burial sights in the cape, some of them estimated to be 12 000 years old. In the past cave drawings were also visible in the cave but were destroyed by vandals. If you belong to the more active climber group, you should not miss to take the route from Ravine Steps to Elsie's Peak.
Activities in Fish Hoek also include sports like cricket, hockey, soccer and squash. To hire a bike is also a lovely option to visit the country site.
