GEOGRAPHY: Namibia is surrounded by five African countries and is located in southwestern Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe are among the neighbouring countries. The almost 1300 km long coastal strip of Namibia is one of the most impressive in the world. The huge shifting dunes of the Namib Desert, which extend up to 130 km inland, are particularly well known. But not only sand belongs to the unique landscape, also bush and grasslands as well as several dried up salt lakes are home to many wild animals.
LANGUAGE: The official language is English. But most Namibians speak the colloquial language Afrikaans or German.
RELIGION: Almost 90% of Namibians are Christians. The minority are followers of natural religions.
PASSPORT: Required, with the condition that the passport is valid for at least 6 months after the end of the trip.

VISA: For EU citizens from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the tourist visa is subject to a fee and is valid for 90 days. An early endeavour to maintain the visa is for the above Countries not necessary.

RECOMMENDED VACCINATIONS AGAINST: Malaria, Hepatitis A and B.
CLIMATE: Although you can travel to Namibia all year round, the best months to travel are April and June. It doesn't get too hot, so you can sleep peacefully at night, and it's almost free of rain. The driest time is the winter time (July to September) with an average of 20 degrees Celsius, whereby the temperatures can drop sharply at night, especially in the desert.
